Watched this here a second time and loved it as much as the first! The friend i watched it with says Chimamanda must be a shy personn based on some things she noticed during her talk. Whatever! All i know is that i really enjoyed it and i want to download it for posteruty’s sake.
Read Mr Ikheloa’s review and enjoyed that too. He talks about the likes of Buchi Emecheta and Cyprian Ekwensi who didnt write hoping to get rich from doing so. I think many of these ‘new generation’ writers write stories that they know will bring them commercial success. This is not to say that they’re not passionate; they are, they just know that a certain storyline will bring them acclamation. And who doesnt want acclaim?
Many times, these stories are true but as the yoruba saying goes, irinisi nisonlojo – the world will think of us as we portray ourselves.
