Great investigative reporting even if we didnt get as many answers from our Lagos public officials as one might have liked. The relationships between all the different agencies was quite illuminating- also illuminating is that they seem to either be working in silos, in a non-coordinated manner, or antagonistic to each other. At the end of the day, government loses a bit more credibility and the public loses its voice, its history, its faith in due process. Keep up the good work.

Thank you. I’ve finally reached out to the Director General of the concerned Lagos ministry and will update future reports with whatever I hear from him. Every time I think that the story is finished, a new lead surfaces. It won’t bring the building back, but hopefully our knowledge of what got us here will lead us to a better place.

Wow this is so sad to watch. Do we have any news from developers or even government officials? I mean it is one thing to make the decision to do something like that, it’s a different thing to not answer or give any hints on the in depth reasons if this all (which we all can pretty much understand.)
It’s not like someone decides to simply build something new – this is a demolition project. Only destruction is involved, no new construction.
So sad…
